Dr. Sri Mulyani Indrawati is the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. In this role, she has many achievements, such as stabilizing the macroeconomy, maintaining a prudent fiscal policy, decreasing the cost of loans and managing debt as well as creating an environment of trust for investors. For these and other achievements, Dr. Sri Mulyani was elected as the 23rd World’s Most Influential Women by Forbes magazine in 2008 and the 2nd Most Influential Women in Indonesia from Globe Asia magazine in 2007. She was also awarded as the Best Minister of Finance for 2006 from the Euromoney and the Best Minister of Finance in Asia by the Emerging Market Forum the same year.
As a specialist of Monetary Economics and Banking as well as Labour Economics Research, Dr. Sri Mulyani was chosen to be the Executive Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) representing 12 countries in the South-East Asia (SEA Group) in 2002. She has also served as a consultant with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and as the Acting Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and the Executive Director of the World Bank.
Dr. Sri Mulyani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universitas Indonesia (1986); a Master of Science of Policy Economics and a PhD in Economics from the University of Illinois (USA). She has also lectured on the Indonesian economy as a visiting professor at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at the Georgia State University.
