Professor Zhijun Lin has had a long and distinguished career in management accounting in both academia and the profession. He is currently Associate Vice President at the Macau University of Science and Technology; where he was also Dean and Professor. His previous appointments have been as Head of the Department and Professor of Accountancy at the Hong Kong Baptist University; Associate Professor at the University of Lethbridge, Canada and Associate Professor Xiamen University, Peoples Republic of China.
He has held visiting professorial at the University of Hong Kong; Stanford University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in USA; and Fuzhou University and Hebei University in the PRC. He was Overseas Academic Dean and Visiting Professor, School of Accountancy, Capital University of Economics and Business, in Beijing, China; a Member of the Advisory Committee, Center on Chinese Accounting, Finance, and Business Research at Cardiff University, UK; Visiting Professor, Institute of Finance and Accounting Studies, and Senior Research Fellow at the Research Center for Accounting Development, Xiamen University, PRC.
In terms of professional practice, he was Deputy Chief Accountant at Xiamen University Certified Public Accountants, at Xiamen, PRC; an Audit Staff Member at Touche Ross & Co (now “Deloittes”) in Toronto, Canada. As a researcher, Professor Lin has been prolific, having authored over 100 books, book chapters and journal articles.
He has done much for the profession and continues to do so. He is Chairman of the Education Committee, Hong Kong Branch, of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia; President of the Hong Kong Association of Academic Accountants (HKAAA) and Vice-chairman of the Overseas Cooperation Committee, The China Society of Accounting. He is also a Member of the International Association of Accounting Education and Research (IAAER); the American Accounting Association’s International Section; the Academy of Accounting Historians (USA); and the North American Association of Chinese Accounting Professors.
Professor Lin did his undergraduate studies at Fujian Jimei College of Finance and Economics (renamed as Jimei University) in the PRC. He has a MSc in Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada; and an MA (Economics) and PhD (Economics/Accounting) from the College of Economics, Xiamen University. Professor Lin has the honour of obtaining the first Economics/Accounting PhD in China. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the American Institute of CPAs and the Chinese Institute of CPAs and a Fellow of CPA Australia; a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) from the Institute of Certified Management Accountants.
The Institute of Certified Management Accountants is honoured to induct Professor Zhijun Lin to the Global Management Accounting Hall of Fame® for his services to the profession in Hong Kong and Greater China.
